Lagos Residents Express Discontent, Yell "We Are Hungry" at President Tinubu

In a scene that unfolded on Friday, residents of Lagos Island and traders at the bustling Idumota market openly displayed dissatisfaction with President Bola Tinubu, vociferously expressing their hunger. The residents, standing on both sides of the road, took the opportunity of President Tinubu's convoy passing through the market to convey their grievances, shouting in Yoruba, "Ebi npa wa oo," translating to "we are hungry."

The traders, rather than hailing the President, used the moment to articulate their hardships, which they believe stem from the government. In a video capturing the incident, the discontented voices of the residents can be heard expressing their concerns. Some comments beneath the video suggested that the heavy security presence indicated the presidency was aware of the people's plans, although the specifics of these alleged plans were not disclosed.

President Tinubu's visit to Lagos, intended to celebrate both Christmas and New Year, coincides with a challenging period for Nigerians grappling with economic difficulties, including cash shortages and soaring petrol prices. The discontent voiced by Lagos residents underscores the economic challenges faced by many during the Yuletide season.
