Federal Government Acts Promptly to Aid Affected Communities

In a decisive move, President Bola Tinubu has given the green light for immediate assistance to be extended to victims of the recent attacks in Plateau State's local governments. The tragic events unfolded on Christmas Eve, with over 100 individuals losing their lives and 221 houses being razed in the local government areas of Bokkos and Barkin Ladi.

Dr. Betta Edu, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, conveyed the President's directive in a statement released on Thursday. President Tinubu instructed the ministry to collaborate closely with the Plateau State Government to provide humanitarian support to survivors and affected communities.

Expressing deep sorrow over the senseless and horrendous attacks, Minister Edu pledged the ministry's commitment to working alongside the state government to offer essential assistance to those impacted by the tragedy. She emphasized that every effort is being made to ensure that individuals facing humanitarian crises receive the necessary support, aligning with the administration's Renewed Hope agenda.

The statement from the minister highlighted the shocking nature of the attacks and the challenges faced by survivors and affected communities. It stated, "It was with utter shock and sadness that I received the news of the barbaric, horrendous, and senseless attacks in Plateau communities, which have left over 100 people dead and injured many, while many more are displaced."

The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, under the directive of President Tinubu, is unwavering in its commitment to collaborate with the Plateau State Government to address the humanitarian needs arising from the unfortunate attacks. The statement concluded, "We are unrelenting in our efforts to ensure that every Nigerian and all parts of Nigeria experiencing humanitarian crises are catered for in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu."
