Rejoinder - Your Modern Ignorance and Irresponsibility is a threat, Concerned Kwara Youth Blast Speaker’s aide -Sheu Abdulkadir Yusuf

Rejoinder – A Balanced Perspective on Prof. Sulaiman's Contributions

We read with interest the recent article penned by one Mr. Sheu Abdulkadir, attacking the personality of such a great astute administrator and academic, Prof. Abubakar Sulaiman's tenure as the Director General of NILDS. While constructive criticism is essential, it is imperative to address certain points and provide a more balanced perspective on Prof. Sulaiman's contribution and recent comments.

This rejoinder will not play novice and irresponsibility like Mr. Abdulkadir, but expose, unlearn and highlight to him Prof. Sulaiman's outstanding leadership.

His alleged fixation on the Tenth Kwara Legislature, questioning the basis of his commentary, it's crucial to acknowledge that individuals in leadership positions often engage with the legislative landscape, and differing opinions should be viewed as part of a healthy democratic discourse.

The article questions Prof. Sulaiman's remarks on the Kwara Assembly's legislative knowledge, citing instances where invitations allegedly went unheeded. That is nothing but the truth and it only shows how low focus the Assembly play on its core objectives.  It's important to note that interactions between institutions can be complex, and public discourse should be informed by a comprehensive understanding of the dynamics at play.

Moreover, accusations of turning NILDS into a "cash cow" require him to move away from self misguidance or maybe the benefits Prof. Suleiman's leadership is gaining both locally and internationally is the foundation of his jealousy. Life is a process, be determined like him and maybe you will rise too. A more nuanced examination, considering the multifaceted challenges associated with legislative capacity building, yet Prof Sulaiman is delivering excellently.

While Mr Abdulkadir points to challenges in other states. It is crucial to recognize that the complexities of legislative affairs extend beyond the purview of a single individual of his kind or an institution. Addressing issues in states like Rivers and Edo requires collective efforts and systemic interventions and is not in any way related to Prof's leadership. The reference to workshops organized by NILDS prompts a closer look at the effectiveness of legislative training programs. Evaluating the impact of these initiatives on the legislative processes in various states demands to carefully have an understanding of the impact all of those programs have birthed.

Most importantly, we demand that the Kwara Assembly provide answers to the following sincere questions that are so demanding or rather keep quiet;

  1. What is the Kwara Assembly's assessment of their performance, particularly in terms of oversight, and what initiatives have they undertaken?
  2. How many bills has the Kwara Assembly successfully passed, and is there evidence of any deviation from their core responsibilities?
  3. Can the Kwara Assembly provide information on the number of motions they have passed to address various issues and concerns?
  4. In the interest of the public, how many managing directors (MDs) or commissioners have been invited by the Kwara Assembly for discussions or inquiries?

In conclusion, let us approach this dialogue with a commitment to fostering understanding rather than perpetuating a narrative of conflict. Prof. Sulaiman's contributions to NILDS and the broader legislative landscape should be assessed with a fair and discerning lens which Mr Abdulkadir has travelled wide from.
