Atiku, Obi, and Kwankwaso Unite to Form Mega Party for 2027, Says Pat Utomi

Political economist Professor Pat Utomi disclosed in a Sunday interview on Channels Television that the presidential candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Labour Party (LP), and the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) have reached an agreement to establish a mega party. This coalition aims to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections.

Utomi framed the initiative as a "clean start" for Nigerian politics, emphasizing the need to acknowledge that the country has not experienced a true political party since 1999. He argued that existing platforms have mainly facilitated machine politics, leading to power capture without a corresponding improvement in the quality of life for Nigerians.

Expressing concern about the deteriorating conditions in Nigeria, Utomi pointed out the country's standing as the poverty capital of the world and a hotbed of widespread violence. He challenged observers to compare Nigeria's trajectory since 1999 with that of India, citing India's shift towards rational engagement with developmental state practices.

Utomi underscored the urgency of organizing political structures that focus on the Nigerian people's welfare, emphasizing the potential positive impact on the nation's development. The formation of a mega party, uniting prominent figures like Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rabiu Kwankwaso, is presented as a strategic move to bring about transformative change and address Nigeria's current challenges.
