Borno State Police Public Relations Officer Nahum Daso Kenneth verified the incident, mentioning that 12 bodies were recovered, and two individuals sustained injuries during the attack. The police commissioner, along with other security heads, has initiated a discreet investigation to apprehend the assailants.

The terrorists reportedly targeted mourners returning from Gatamarwa, and later attacked Tsiha community near Shikarkir, killing three people and abducting a young lady. Houses were set ablaze after looting food supplies.
