The National Television Authority (NTA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Afro Sports, securing the exclusive broadcasting rights for all 52 matches of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The deal ensures that NTA will air every moment of the continental football show, surprising many as Multichoice, the owners of DSTV and Super Sports, failed to secure the rights for the coveted football spectacle.

The AFCON, set to kick off on January 13, 2024, and conclude on February 11, 2024, will be held in Cote d'Ivoire. NTA's strategic partnership with Afro Sports marks a game-changing move in the broadcasting landscape, bringing the highly anticipated matches to viewers across the nation.
How MultiChoice Lost AFCON Broadcast Rights
Multichoice, the owner of SuperSport channels, confirmed that it won't broadcast the AFCON 2023 tournament due to the company's failure to secure the rights. This decision follows CAF's exclusive rights award to New World TV for Sub-Saharan Africa.
"SuperSport Channel will not broadcast the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023...because the channel has not secured the rights to broadcast the tournament." - Multichoice Statement
Despite the setback, Multichoice Africa assured football fans of continued access to various football competitions on DStv and GOtv platforms, including the Premier League, LaLiga, Serie A, Zambian Super League, and more. The AFCON 2023 games will still be available through partner broadcast stations on Free to Air (FTA) channels.
