Newly Sworn-in Governor Expresses Commitment to Unity and Progress
In a strategic move to chart the course for Ondo State's future, the recently sworn-in Governor, Aiyedatiwa, held a crucial meeting with President Bola Tinubu in Lagos on Thursday night. The visit took place just 24 hours after Aiyedatiwa officially assumed office following the unfortunate passing of former Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.
During the meeting, Aiyedatiwa conveyed his plans to foster unity and collaboration, stating his determination to "pull everybody to work together and see how we can move the state forward." He emphasized that the President provided valuable advice and encouragement, urging him to take charge and mobilize all stakeholders in the state for the continuous governance.
Aiyedatiwa, who served as the former deputy governor, expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for standing by Ondo State during its critical moments, particularly in the last six months, which saw significant challenges making headlines. The closed-door meeting allowed him to brief the President on the recent events in Ondo State, including the loss of Governor Akeredolu.
In his remarks, Aiyedatiwa acknowledged President Tinubu's role as a father figure to the state and thanked him for his support and guidance. The Governor also discussed the state's focus on future development and the collaborative efforts required to overcome challenges.
Meanwhile, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun also paid a condolence visit to President Tinubu, sharing updates on the progress and plans for Ogun State in the coming year. He highlighted the significant achievements of Ogun State, positioning it as the most improved economy in Nigeria and one of the fastest-growing economies in the country.
