In a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, Tinubu expressed his support for the establishment of the National Institute of Progressive Studies. This institute is expected to conduct thorough research, educate party members on democratic principles and good governance, and provide a distinct identity for the party.
Tinubu underscored the importance of progressiveness and inclusivity in democracy, asserting that addressing poverty and providing job opportunities for youths, along with quality education for all Nigerian children, should be key priorities. He commended the efforts of the party's leadership in promoting these ideals and called for collaboration among various government arms.
The President urged the party to target more youths and women in its e-registration and digital membership validation exercise scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2024. He expressed solidarity with the party's progressive ideological stance and emphasized his dedication to pursuing it with vigor.
Acknowledging the challenges faced by democracy in the past, Tinubu remained optimistic about a promising future for Nigeria. He called for increased focus on addressing the issue of out-of-school children, advocating for the establishment of more schools, recruitment of teachers, and the provision of at least one meal a day for school children.
The National Chairman of the All Progressives’ Congress, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, assured Tinubu that the NWC had strategies in place to secure success in the upcoming by-elections. Ganduje also highlighted the party's plan to establish the National Institute of Progressive Studies, aiming to enlighten members and the public on democratic principles, internal democracy, and adherence to electoral rules.
As Tinubu navigates the demands of his office, he remains dedicated to advancing a progressive democracy that addresses crucial issues and uplifts the nation.
