Rivers State Governor Declares Victory Amidst Political Turmoil

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has boldly proclaimed himself the victor in the ongoing political crisis gripping the state. Asserting that those orchestrating the turmoil aimed to oust him from office, Governor Fubara declared his continued leadership as the ultimate triumph.

The conflict, centered around a longstanding feud with his predecessor and current Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, has resulted in the factionalization of the state House of Assembly. Members loyal to Wike filed an impeachment notice against Governor Fubara, leading to a series of political maneuvers.

President Bola Tinubu intervened in the dispute, prompting the withdrawal of the impeachment notice and other resolutions. Speaking at a church service in Opobo Town, Governor Fubara conveyed his victory message, emphasizing that as long as he remains in office and wields the symbolic red biro for official signatures, development will persist in Rivers State.

In a statement issued by his media aide, Boniface Onyedi, the governor expressed determination to lead the state despite attempts to derail progress. He credited the foundation of his administration to divine support and assured the people that the state's 2024 development agenda would unfold as planned.

Governor Fubara extended gratitude to President Tinubu for his fatherly intervention and pledged unwavering support, stating, "Our sacrifices are part of the support." He also acknowledged the support of the people of Rivers State, urging them to trust his decisions as their leader.

In the church service, Bishop Emmanuel Oko-Jaja focused on the theme "I will never forget you" for 2024, assuring believers that God would restore Nigeria to glory and stability. Governor Fubara echoed this sentiment, reinforcing his commitment to steering the state toward progress despite the challenges posed by the political crisis.
